Wondering …

What would happen if our communities, as a norm, strived towards living on the absolute minimum (basic needs) – giving our excess away? What would happen if we all assumed Jesus’ statement that we cannot be his disciples if we don’t “give up everything we have” is what we are to strive towards? What would happen if we started asking different questions?

Imagine a community where instead of asking ‘why should I give up everything?’ started asking ‘why should I keep anything?’ A community regulated by love, where I willingly give up stuff so that others can have what they need. Isn’t this what is meant by ‘give us today our daily bread’?
