Shadows

Yesterday our family spent part of the morning hanging out at the pool. Liam, our eleven month old son, crawled up and down the length of the steps. I followed him by standing in the water. My following shielded him. It helped him not to fall into the water. With the sun’s specific angle I also casted him in my shadow. Not only did he not fall into the water, he was also protected from the sun’s rays.

The whole incident reminded me of the delightful phrase “in the shadow of the Almighty.” I believe that God wants to keep us in His shadow and that I have the opportunity to position my life into a position where that shadow is casted. What do you think?
